Can I see a sample first?
Yes. We’ll create a free 3-page personalized sample before you commit.
How does payment work?
A 50% deposit on the package price starts your project: Starter $725, Signature $2,125, Premium $4,000 (from), Founding $750. The balance is due at proof approval, which happens before printing. Pay by card or US bank (ACH). Printed books and standard shipping are included in the package price. Invoices are due within 7 days. Net-30 terms are available to enterprise clients after a credit check. Resellers: contact us.
What if I need to cancel?
Before work starts, we refund your deposit less a $100 admin fee. Once work starts, we keep the 50% deposit and nothing more is due. Print orders can’t be canceled once placed with the printer. Projects on hold for more than 30 days move to our next open slot; after 90 days on hold, they’re treated as canceled.
What counts as a revision round?
One consolidated list of changes to a draft. Starter includes 1 round, Signature 2 and Premium 3. Extra rounds are $250. New concepts or extra pages are priced as add-ons.
Who owns the book?
You get a license to print, distribute and promote your book for your business. Full rights terms are in our service agreement. A small Sharpened Crayon credit line goes on the back page by default; it’s optional, your choice.
Can you use a famous cartoon character?
No. We only create original art, and we don’t use trademarked characters or third-party logos without written permission. Your own logo is welcome; you confirm you have the rights to it.
Do you use AI?
Yes, as one of our tools. We use digital design tools, including AI assistants, to help draft artwork, layouts and text. Our sample books were drawn as clean vector line art in code written with an AI assistant; no AI image generator was used for them. Every book is checked against our quality checklist and approved by you before printing. All text is typeset, never generated inside an image. Ask us and we’ll tell you where AI was used in your book.
How long does it take?
Starter takes 1 to 2 weeks, Signature 3 to 4 weeks and Premium 4 to 6 weeks. Rush is a flat +$500 on any package, subject to availability. Design time starts once your brief is approved and the deposit is received. Printing adds about 7 to 12 business days plus shipping; we’ll confirm dates in your quote.
What’s the holiday deadline?
Holiday orders for December delivery: order by Thu Oct 22 for guaranteed holiday delivery (Signature books need to start by Oct 15). Orders Oct 23 to 30 are rush only (+$500, subject to availability). Design approval is due by Thu Nov 5, and the balance is due at proof approval (by Mon Nov 9 at the latest, subject to printer lead time).
Do you include crayons? Can you make books for toddlers?
We don’t bundle crayons or other art supplies with books. Books aimed at children ages 3 and under need a compliance review before we can quote them.
Books, printing & shipping
What size are the books?
Every book is 8.5 x 11 in (US Letter), with original black-line art designed for crayons and markers.
What paper do you print on? Will markers bleed through?
We recommend uncoated paper of at least 60 to 70 lb text weight for the inside pages, so crayons and markers grip without bleeding through. If your audience loves markers, we can print pages single-sided. The exact paper is confirmed in your proposal.
Is there a minimum order?
Our packages include 250 (Starter), 500 (Signature) or 1,000 (Premium) printed books. Extra copies are $300 per 100 ($400 per 100 on Premium). Orders over 1,000 copies are quoted. For other quantities, just ask.
Do you ship? How much does shipping cost?
Yes. Standard shipping to one address in the contiguous US is included in every package. Extra addresses, expedited shipping, Alaska/Hawaii and international delivery are quoted. Taxes are extra where they apply.
Do you ship custom coloring books nationwide?
Yes. We make custom coloring books for businesses anywhere in the US. We’re based in Gilroy, CA and design remotely: samples, briefs and proofs are handled by email, and we ship your printed books to any US address. Standard shipping to one address in the contiguous US is included.
Can you make a custom coloring book for my dental office or real estate business?
Yes. We make books for dental and orthodontic offices, real estate agents, restaurants and hotels, schools and PTAs, and corporate gifts, and we ship them anywhere in the US. Ask for a free 3-page sample starring your business, or see ideas by industry.
Can we reorder later?
Yes. We’ll quote separate reprints on request. It’s often worth ordering a little extra up front: extra copies are $300 per 100 ($400 per 100 on Premium) when added to the same print run. Orders over 1,000 copies are quoted.
Can the book be bilingual?
Yes. A bilingual edition (one second language, e.g., English/Spanish) is $250 for Starter, $600 for Signature, and included in Premium.
Are the books in your portfolio real clients?
No. They’re sample projects we created to show our style. The businesses are fictional. We’ll only show real client work with the client’s written permission.
